Toddler Seat Cover
My name is Sara, and my little lady Anna recently began toddling. Oh how I’m sure many of you out there are cringing at the mere thought. That’s when your baby becomes a little less fussy with their food, and a lot more active and rambunctious! Among all of the new things hubby and I had to buy, a car seat was not one of them, thanks to my sister giving us our nephew’s old seat. I did however, have to purchase a new toddler seat cover, as the one that came with the seat was tattered, and long past its unwritten expiry date.
Where to start…We as parents, have a limitless number of options available when buying a toddler seat cover. Brands: Brittax, Grayco, Evenflo, Peg Perego, and even Recaro (anyone ever see Fast and Furious?). Add to that decision your careful choice of fabrics you may decide to use 100% cotton, or a cotton/polyester blend, or many many synthetic fabric choices out there to suit mother and baby’s needs. The mother of a toddling baby also needs to take the environment into consideration cotton isn’t as durable as synthetic, and synthetic isn’t as breathable or comfy as cotton.
After researching this and telling my husband about all of these choices, he started laughing uncontrollably. It’s just a seat cover He said. Big surprise coming from a typical male, who thinks about cars 24/7. Anyhow, I obviously couldn’t rely on him for opinions, so I returned to looking for my new toddler seat cover.
I decided to get two different varieties. A 100% cotton fabric cover from Brittax, they are known for quality above all else, and are the number one for many baby accessories. I wanted a cotton cover so Anna would be comfy on hot days at the beach, and while we were sitting in busy New York traffic. As I mentioned earlier; cotton is known for being breathable, so baby can enjoy the fresh air like the rest of us and not overheat on the hot days. My second toddler seat cover was going to be either synthetic or synthetic blend.
I my second choice was a synthetic blend toddler seat cover. The reasons were this: A) Anna is still a toddler and I don’t want to take a chance that she may have unknown allergies to synthetic fabrics. B) Fully synthetic is known for durability, and lasting for a long time, but the Brittax brochure I read suggested new synthetic blends provided the longevity of fully synthetic, while still providing a comfortable allergy-free environment for my baby.
When your making your choice also keep in mind that regardless of which variety, or brand of toddler seat cover you buy the patterns, and different design options are limitless. Any color, or color combination you can imagine is available. Toddler seat covers have become just as trendy as doggy purses, and ripped up tattered old jeans. I hope this helps someone make the right decision.
