Waterproof Toddler Seat Cover

My name is Sara, and you may have seen other articles I’ve written regarding my recently toddling baby Anna. I’ve become somewhat of an expert in baby accessories, as I’m sure many of you single mothers out there have. I recently found myself at a family barbeque with Anna, and hubby Joe. Not a very interesting story so far right? Well I found out the value of a waterproof toddler car seat cover.  The HARD WAY!

Anna got soaked, as my attention briefly turned to the windows on our Jeep being down. I told Joe to watch the baby while I went and rolled the windows up quickly. Coming back I checked on Anna to find that, although she was dry, her seat was getting wetter by the second. I realized I hadn’t even considered getting a waterproof toddler seat cover for situations like this one.

When I got home I dug into my baby magazines to find out what my options were. I knew I would likely be going with a Brittax product, as I had a stroller made by them, and the accessories to go along with it. My current toddler seat covers were also made by them. The car seat itself was a hand me down from my sister, made by Grayco.  Enough of my babbling though, on to the quest for my Brittax waterproof car seat cover!

When searching through my magazine I soon realized there were plenty of options regarding style, and color which was amazing.  As far as fabric is concerned, I could either look for something to slip on over my existing cotton, or synthetic blend cover Or I could by a plush cotton cover, with a waterproof coating.  Brittax and companies like Grayco, Peg Perego, and Chico Key all offer cotton or cotton blend, synthetic or synthetic blend waterproof toddler seat covers with a synthetic coating.

I have mentioned in other articles how important it is to be cautious with fabric choices when it comes to your toddler.  Remember their little hands and feet are twitching, and moving around under that cover, and you want to be cautious of any sort of irritations that they develop. Some toddlers are allergic to polyester, and synthetic fabrics. You always want to look for any suspicious rashes that develop, and their source.

Brittax color selections were unending: Laguna Blue, Crocodile, Cowmooflage, Auburn Tigers, Chocola, or any custom color one could think of.  I quickly decided on Cowmooflage because it sounds cute, and I like telling friends about my Cowmooflage Brittax waterproof toddler seat cover! Its a tongue twister, but it gets some laughs out of people.  TRUST ME. Good luck with selecting what’s right for your hip newly toddling baby!
